Who Am I?
I am a qualified Person Centred Counsellor, who is a member of the BACP (British Association of Counsellors and Psychotherapists) and I work within their ethical framework, maintaining the principles, personal moral qualities and values required. I specialise in bereavement and loss and have worked for a local hospice and Cruse for 4 years.
How Can Counselling Help?
The counselling environment gives you the opportunity to explore your thoughts and feelings and choose where you want to take your life; being able to express yourself confidentially and with no judgement whilst being heard enables growth and the chance to look forward.
What Can I Offer You?
I offer 1:1 counselling in a safe, non judgemental and confidential environment. It is important to feel heard and I listen with true empathy and real understanding to enable self growth and change.
As a Person Centred Counsellor I believe we all have our own answers and solutions within us, just sometimes we may need help in finding these – nobody knows us better than ourselves. I offer the opportunity to develop through mutual trust, equality and respect; to understand our behaviours, reactions and thought processes enabling a deeper self perception and worth. I feel with openness and honesty, a relationship can grow which gives you a safe way to explore feelings.
Death is still a taboo within our society and people are not encouraged to grieve openly, leaving individuals unable to understand what is happening during this traumatic time. I offer a space where the grieving process can happen without judgement or expectation. I also feel loss is not solely about bereavement of a loved one; loss of purpose, loss of identity, loss of status, loss of direction, loss of self are all life impacting losses that if not grieved for may affect our mental wellbeing.
I also work with various mental health conditions, depression, anxiety. stress, low self esteem, trauma, OCD and many other life impacting problems. Understanding our own behaviours and ways of relating enable and help us to move forward in our chosen direction.
What To Expect
If after our initial contact you feel we could work together, we would meet at a mutually convenient time to undertake an assessment, this would include what you hope to gain from counselling, any goals you may want to set, how we would work together - this assessment session would be at a reduced rate.
If you choose to proceed we would then agree the best frequency and number of sessions of counselling to suit you; this is reviewed regularly to enable you to extend if wanted. Counselling sessions and their content will always be at your pace, allowing you to explore what you need to when you need to, I will help you explore, identify and discover patterns, behaviours, thought processes and aim towards desired outcomes.
